The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB), Ogun State, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for recovering N27 million belonging to the institution.
The Vice Chancellor, Professor Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, gave the commendation in a letter addressed to the EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, praising the Commission for its professionalism, resilience, and commitment in resolving the matter.
According to the university, the recovered funds were originally paid in 2011 for the acquisition of a property intended to serve as the institution’s Abuja Liaison Office and Guest House. However, administrative and legal challenges stalled the project for years, preventing its execution.

Following unsuccessful attempts to resolve the issue, the university petitioned the EFCC to intervene and recover the funds.
The Commission reportedly investigated the case for about two years before successfully recovering and remitting the N27 million to the university in April 2026.
In his letter, the Vice Chancellor said the recovery represented a significant institutional achievement for UNAAB and underscored the EFCC’s role in safeguarding public resources.
He added that the Commission had also taken steps to prosecute those involved in the matter, describing the intervention as a boost to public confidence in the fight against economic and financial crimes.

“The university deeply appreciates the Commission’s huge efforts in ensuring justice and accountability in the matter,” Kehinde said, noting that the outcome had reinforced the institution’s confidence in the EFCC’s integrity and effectiveness.
