The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Onna Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has adopted Governor Umo Eno as its sole governorship candidate ahead of the party primaries and the 2027 general elections.
The party also adopted Elder Nelson Ntia for the State House of Assembly seat, Senator Ekong Sampson for the Senate, and Dr Eunice Thomas for the House of Representatives as consensus candidates.
The resolutions were reached during an enlarged meeting of stakeholders and party members held on Wednesday at the residence of the political leader of the party in ONNA, Hon. Pat Ifon.
Addressing party members at the meeting, the APC Chapter Chairman in ONNA, Mr Tom Nkanang, urged members to remain united and strategically position the party for victory in the forthcoming elections.
He appealed to aggrieved members to put aside their grievances and work collectively for the success of the party.
In his remarks, the political leader of the APC in ONNA, Dr Pat Ifon, explained that the meeting was convened to communicate decisions reached by the party leadership in the state and to prepare members ahead of the primaries and general elections.

According to him, Governor Umo Eno had advised party faithful to avoid internal conflicts and maintain unity to ensure electoral success.
Dr Ifon formally announced the adoption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, Senator Ekong Sampson, Dr Eunice Thomas and Elder Nelson Ntia as consensus candidates for their respective positions.
He called on members of the party to remain committed to the collective interest of the APC and intensify preparations for the elections.
The APC leader also urged members to pray and work for the re-election of Senate President Godswill Akpabio and his return as Senate President after the 2027 polls.
Speaking during the meeting, the Commissioner for Finance, Mr Emem Bob, disclosed that he had initially canvassed support for Nung Ndem to produce the State House of Assembly candidate but accepted the party’s final decision in support of Elder Nelson Ntia.
He described loyalty and sacrifice as critical virtues in politics and urged party faithful to support the consensus arrangement in the interest of unity and victory.
Also speaking, Dr Owoideghe Ekpottai stated that Nelson Ntia deserved the support of party members based on his contributions and sacrifices for the APC.
In his contribution, Dr Nse Essien commended Governor Umo Eno for the consensus arrangement and praised Dr Pat Ifon for his inclusive leadership style.

He advised the incoming lawmaker to focus on impactful representation, human capacity development and creating opportunities for constituents.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ekerete Udoh, also endorsed the party’s decisions and urged members to rally support for all adopted candidates.
Other stakeholders who spoke at the meeting, including Barr. Ini Ikott, Dr Kufre Akpabio, Hon. Bassey Willie and Hon. Godwin Oton, expressed support for the resolutions and appealed for reconciliation among aggrieved members to ensure unity within the party ahead of the elections.
