The Sector Commander of RS5.2 Delta Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Corps Commander Charles C. Edem, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to stronger inter-agency cooperation following a courtesy visit to the Commander of the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Asaba.

The visit, which took place on May 7, 2026, aimed to deepen collaboration between the two agencies and enhance road safety operations across Delta State.
During the meeting, Brigadier General M. A. Shonibare, Commander of the 63 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, commended the FRSC for its professionalism and sustained efforts in promoting road safety in Nigeria
He acknowledged the corps’ role in reducing accidents and saving lives through traffic enforcement, public awareness campaigns, and emergency response operations.
Both commanders also discussed strategies to improve traffic management and strengthen joint operations, particularly as the country prepares for the ember months, a period traditionally associated with increased road traffic and higher risks of accidents.
The discussions focused on coordinated approaches to traffic control, emergency response, and security support aimed at ensuring safer highways for motorists and commuters in Delta State.

Corps Commander Edem noted that collaboration between security and safety agencies remains critical to achieving effective road management and reducing avoidable fatalities on the nation’s highways.
The meeting further highlighted the importance of synergy among government institutions in addressing transportation and public safety challenges across the state.
