Residents of Odo-Eri community in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State have been gripped by fear following the abduction of pastors and their family members by suspected gunmen.
According to a report, the victims include clerics from the Redeemed Christian Church of God and the Christ Apostolic Church, who were kidnapped alongside their wives, children, and other residents during the attack.
The incident, which occurred late Wednesday night, reportedly involved a large group of armed assailants who stormed the community on motorcycles, firing sporadically to instil fear among residents before carrying out the abductions.
Sources reviewed by the pressmen indicate that no fewer than 20 persons may have been taken, although the exact number of victims remains uncertain as authorities continue to assess the situation.
The attack has triggered panic across the community, with many residents fleeing their homes amid the sound of gunfire and uncertainty over the fate of those abducted.
Security agencies have since launched efforts to rescue the victims, with police authorities confirming that operations are ongoing.
However, there has been no official response from the leadership of the affected churches as of the time of filing this report.
