Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, has dissolved the State Executive Council, bringing to an end the tenure of the commissioners who have served in the cabinet over the past three years.
The governor made the announcement during the 53rd meeting of the Gombe State Executive Council, where he commended members of the council for their collective efforts in driving the administration’s development agenda.
Governor Yahaya noted that the transformation recorded in the state, often described as the “Jewel in the Savannah,” was the result of teamwork and dedication by members of the council. He expressed appreciation to the commissioners for their commitment and contributions toward the growth and development of the state.

During the meeting, the council reviewed the performance of its members since their inauguration, assessing their roles and achievements in implementing government policies and programmes.
In his farewell remarks, Governor Yahaya formally announced the dissolution of the cabinet, directed the seventeen commissioners affected to hand over the affairs of their respective ministries to the permanent secretaries on or before Friday, April 10, 2026.
The council also reaffirmed April 10, 2026, as the deadline for all political appointees intending to contest elective positions in the 2027 general elections to resign from their appointments.
Meanwhile, the outgoing cabinet members expressed gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve the state in various capacities and pledged their continued support for the administration’s development objectives.
