Operatives of the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested one Osagie Destiny Etinosa over an alleged N11 million fraud.
The suspect was apprehended through open-source intelligence. He had allegedly been posing on Instagram, via the account @officialking_etto, as a football agent who specialized in linking players with foreign clubs for trials and recruitment.
In one reported case, Etinosa allegedly collected the sum of N11,000,000 from Samuel Beke Ohazuruike, promising to secure trial opportunities for him with clubs in Romania and Bulgaria. The trials, however, never materialized, and all efforts by the victim to recover his money were unsuccessful.
The EFCC stated that the suspect will be arraigned in court soon.
