Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has expressed deep sadness over the death of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, describing his passing as a major loss to the state and the country.
Zuru died on Monday, April 6, 2026, at a hospital in Cairo, Egypt, where he had been undergoing treatment for a prolonged illness.
In a condolence message, Governor Idris said he received the news with shock and a heavy heart, noting that the late Speaker was a dependable partner in governance and a dedicated legislator who served the state with commitment.
The governor described Zuru as a stabilizing force in the state legislature whose leadership, humility and wisdom earned him respect among colleagues and the people of Kebbi State.
He said the Speaker’s death has left a significant gap in the state’s political leadership, adding that his calm approach to issues and dedication to unity and progress would be greatly missed.
Governor Idris prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased, asking that his shortcomings be forgiven and that he be granted Aljannatul Firdaus. He also urged the family, members of the State House of Assembly and the people of Kebbi State to remain strong in the face of the loss.
Muhammad Usman Zuru, who was born on April 5, 1970, is survived by his wife and five children.
