The Nigerian Forest Security Service, Itu Command, the APC Ward Chairman of East Itam 3 Ward 5, Mr. Effiong Iyibio, and the Chief of Staff to the Itu Local Government Chairman, Hon. George Akpan, were among beneficiaries of vehicles distributed by the Executive Chairman of Itu Local Government Council, Hon. Ubong Nkutt.
The presentation ceremony took place on Monday at the Itu Local Government Council Secretariat in Mbak Atai, where two minibuses and a car were handed over to the recipients.
The minibus given to the Nigerian Forest Security Service is expected to support the group’s operations in safeguarding lives and property in the area, while Mr. Iyibio and Hon. Akpan also received vehicles in recognition of their roles and contributions.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area, Hon. (Evang) Edidiong Inyang, who presented the vehicles, described the gesture as commendable and said it reflects the people-focused leadership style being promoted by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno.
Explaining the rationale behind the donation, Hon. Nkutt said the support to the security outfit was intended to strengthen its operational capacity, encourage its personnel to remain committed to protecting communities within the council area.
Responding on behalf of the Nigerian Forest Security Service, the South-South Zonal Commander, Ime Peters, appreciated the council chairman for the support, noting that the vehicle would improve the organization’s service delivery.
A visibly surprised Chief of Staff, Hon. George Akpan, expressed gratitude to the chairman, describing the gift as a demonstration of uncommon generosity.
Earlier, the council chairman also presented Easter gifts to the Paramount Ruler of Itu, His Royal Majesty Edet Akpan Inyang, and other clan heads in the area, while his wife, Mrs. Idongesit Ubong Nkutt, extended Easter goodwill to their spouses.
The event was attended by council officials and other dignitaries who witnessed the presentations.
