Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have uncovered cocaine consignments concealed in tins of palm kernel oil, bound for the United Kingdom, as part of a series of intelligence-led operations carried out across the country.

According to the agency, the operations, which lasted for about three weeks, led to the interception of the illicit shipments and the raid of a warehouse where the drugs were packaged. The raid resulted in the arrest of the suspected kingpin of the trafficking syndicate.

In a related development, NDLEA operatives arrested 28-year-old Aisha Adamu, who allegedly operates between Nigeria’s North-East and Chad. She was apprehended with 4.3 kilograms of Colorado, a potent synthetic strain of cannabis.

The agency also arrested the pastor in charge of the Celestial Church of Christ, Sea Beach Parish, Sakpo, Afolabi Hodonu (45), and his wife, Success Hodonu (35), after officers discovered 11 kilograms of skunk concealed in hidden compartments of their vehicle.

Another suspect, Sunday Samuel (35), who allegedly posed as a security agent, was arrested while transporting 24.5 kilograms of skunk from the Seme border to Lagos.

Across several states, NDLEA recorded additional seizures. In Adamawa State, a trailer was intercepted conveying 48,000 pills of tramadol. In Osun State, 60-year-old Idiatu Oladejo was arrested in Isale-Osun, Osogbo, with 15 kilograms of skunk.

In Ondo State, operatives recovered 351 kilograms of skunk and its seeds in Akure. In Benue State, 28,600 capsules of tramadol were seized from 66-year-old Aminu Usman Gembu at Aliade.

Similarly, in Edo State, NDLEA officers raided a warehouse linked to a suspect identified as Roland Owie, where 1,378 kilograms of skunk were recovered.

In Oyo State, Ayantola Omodunmomi, also known as “Iya Elle,” aged 40, was arrested at the Eleta area of Ibadan with 45.6 kilograms of illicit drugs discovered in her warehouse.

The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers across various commands for their efforts in combating drug trafficking nationwide.

Marwa said the successful operations demonstrate the agency’s growing intelligence capacity and commitment to disrupting drug supply networks, regardless of attempts by traffickers to conceal illicit substances through legitimate businesses or other means.
