POLICE DEPLOY MASSIVE SECURITY PRESENCE TO RESTORE PEACE IN JOS NORTH

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Disu, has ordered massive deployment of police personnel, security assets to Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State following a deadly attack in Angwan Rukuba community.

In a statement issued by the Force Headquarters, the IGP strongly condemned the attack, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives. He described the incident as tragic, unacceptable, assuring residents that security agencies are taking immediate steps to restore peace, bring the perpetrators to justice.

Disu expressed his condolences to the Government and people of Plateau State, particularly the families of those who lost their lives and residents affected by the violence.

To strengthen security operations in the area, the IGP has directed the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, to travel to Plateau State to assess the situation, coordinate the ongoing security response.

According to the statement, additional tactical teams, including units of the Police Mobile Force and intelligence operatives have been deployed to the affected area. The teams are working closely with other security agencies to enhance surveillance, maintain law and order, prevent further attacks.

The police chief assured residents that security operations will continue until peace is fully restored. He also directed commanders on ground to intensify visible policing, strengthen engagement with community leaders to build trust and improve intelligence gathering.

Authorities have urged residents to remain calm, cooperate with security personnel, and report any suspicious activities as efforts continue to stabilize the area.
