In a coordinated 24-hour offensive, the Nigerian Army has dealt a severe blow to criminal and terrorist networks across multiple regions, resulting in the arrest of 20 high-profile suspects, the recovery of an AK-47 rifle with specialized ammunition, and the safe rescue of nine kidnapped victims. The operations targeted North East, North West, and North Central theatres, disrupting insurgent logistics and denying criminal elements any safe haven.
North East Successes:
Troops of the 21 Special Armoured Brigade conducted a precise cordon-and-search operation in Ngurosoye Village, Bama, Borno State, acting on actionable intelligence. The raid led to the arrest of 14 suspects, including associates of notorious kidnapper Baba Ali. Security forces also seized bags of fertilizer suspected for use in improvised explosives. Simultaneous operations in Marte LGA forced insurgents to abandon bicycles and other essential supplies, demonstrating the Army’s operational reach.
North West Achievements:
In Kaduna State, soldiers from the 4 Demo and 2 Battalions disrupted criminal activities in Pan Daudu and Kuyello, intercepting cattle rustlers and terrorists who fled, abandoning 96 head of livestock. At Lahin Dan Auta, troops successfully rescued three kidnapped victims, reuniting them with their families and showcasing the Army’s rapid-response capacity.
North Central Gains:
Sector 1 of Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) targeted human traffickers and armed gangs in Benue State. A raid in Gwer West led to the rescue of six victims and the arrest of a suspected trafficker. In Guma LGA, patrols captured three terrorists and recovered one AK-47 rifle, two magazines, and 27 rounds of 7.62mm specialized ammunition, neutralizing a dangerous cell.
