Lucid Motors has revealed a two-seater robotaxi concept that eliminates pedals and steering wheels, pushing the company further into fully autonomous vehicles, competing directly with Tesla’s Cybercab. The unveiling took place during Lucid’s investor day event in New York.
The robotaxi is projected to reduce operating costs by 40% and achieve around 5.5 miles per kilowatt hour efficiency, though Lucid has not disclosed pricing or production timelines.
Lucid also announced monthly subscriptions for its self-driving technology, ranging from $69 to $199 depending on the level of autonomy. This mirrors a broader industry trend, with Tesla and Rivian also moving toward subscription-based models for autonomous driving features.
Additionally, Lucid is partnering with Uber and Nuro to commercialize robotaxis based on its Gravity SUVs this year, while planning a more affordable mid-size EV platform to expand its customer base.
