Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains committed to supporting the realization of the Ibom Deep Seaport project.
Governor Eno spoke on Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, during the 2026 International Women’s Day celebration attended by thousands of women across the state.
The event had the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as special guest.
The governor said the Federal Government’s support for the seaport and the ongoing Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway would open up major economic opportunities for Akwa Ibom and the Niger Delta region.
He also thanked the First Lady for visiting the state to commission the Senator Oluremi Tinubu Senior Citizens Centre, one of three facilities planned to support elderly citizens.
In her remarks, Senator Oluremi Tinubu commended Akwa Ibom women for their large turnout and assured them that the Federal Government remains committed to improving the welfare of women and families.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio described the gathering as a demonstration of the political strength of women in the state and said their support for President Tinubu and Governor Eno was evident.
Deputy Governor Akon Eyakenyi said women across the state had mobilized strongly during sensitization tours across the 31 local government areas and publicly endorsed President Tinubu for a second term.
Coordinator of the Office of the First Lady in Akwa Ibom, Noble Lady Helen Obareki, said the celebration highlighted the need to promote women’s rights and justice while advancing concrete actions for women and girls.
