Oyo State Police Command has arrested a 43-year-old man, Lateef Suleiman, for allegedly killing his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu, after accusing him of attacking him in a dream.

The incident occurred in Alegunlode Compound, Sepeteri, in Saki East Local Government Area of the state.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the suspect allegedly became convinced that his 52-year-old brother had shot him while he was asleep.

Rather than dismiss the experience as a dream, Suleiman reportedly confronted his brother, who was seated at the time, picked up a heavy rock, struck him on the head before fleeing the scene.

“One Badmus Yunisa ‘m’ of Alegunlode Compound, Sepeteri, reported that Lateef Suleiman ‘m’, aged 43 years, attacked his elder brother, Mustapha Amidu ‘m’, aged 52 years, following an accusation that the deceased had shot him in a dream while he was asleep the previous night,” the statement read.

“Acting on this claim, the suspect allegedly approached the deceased where he was seated, picked up a heavy rock, struck him on the head, and fled the scene immediately.”

The victim was rushed to Ileri Oluwa Hospital, Sepeteri, but was confirmed dead by the medical doctor on duty.

Police operatives from the Ago-Amodu Divisional Headquarters visited both the scene of the incident and the hospital as part of their investigation.

The command said the suspect has been arrested and the case is under investigation.
