Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force in Akwa Ibom State have arrested a suspected armed robber allegedly linked to a series of attacks along the Abak Road axis of Uyo.
The suspect, identified as Abraham Etuk, was apprehended at about 11:30a.m. on February 20, 2026, following credible intelligence, according to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John.
The statement noted that preliminary investigations indicate the suspect is a member of a criminal gang believed to have been terrorising residents and targeting unsuspecting victims along Abak Road and adjoining areas.
Items recovered from the suspect at the point of arrest include three mobile phones, a machete and a locally made pistol.
The police said the suspect is currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang and recover additional weapons.
The Commissioner of Police in Akwa Ibom State, Baba Mohammed Azare, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements and ensuring the protection of lives and property.
The police also called on members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
