Troops of the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army have neutralized two suspected armed terrorists during a tactical operation in Ondo State.

The operation was carried out by troops deployed at the Forward Operating Base, Auga, along the Akunu – Auga road on February 14, 2026.

According to a statement by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 32 Artillery Brigade, Major Irabor Njoka, the troops acted on credible human intelligence regarding the movement of suspected criminals in the area.

The statement said the soldiers swiftly mobilized, intercepted the suspects, leading to a firefight. The troops reportedly overpowered the armed elements, neutralizing two of them, while others escaped with suspected gunshot wounds.

The operation was conducted in collaboration with personnel of the Ondo State Security Network Agency and local vigilantes.

Items recovered from the scene include one AK-47 rifle with two magazines and 61 rounds of ammunition, three mobile phones, a jackknife, a torchlight, suspected illicit drugs, charms, and the sum of ₦39,000, among other personal effects.

The Army said the operation underscores its resolve to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and to protect lives and property in Ondo State.

It added that the Brigade will sustain clearance operations, intensify patrols along identified criminal routes, strengthen collaboration with other security agencies and local stakeholders.

Residents have also been urged to continue providing timely, credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to rid the state of criminal elements.
