Justice Ismail Ijelu of the Lagos State High Court, Ikeja, on Monday, March 30, 2026, sentenced Olumuyiwa Teniola Idowu and his company, Tennyvans Nigeria Limited, to a total of 30 years imprisonment for fraud and failure to declare assets.

The conviction followed a six-count charge relating to the theft and non-disclosure of $62,500 (Sixty-Two Thousand Five Hundred US Dollars) and €36,020 (Thirty-Six Thousand, Twenty Euros).

The offences contravened Section 285 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011, and Section 27(3) of the EFCC Act, 2004.

One count detailed that Idowu and his company, in 2012, “dishonestly converted to your own use the sum of $62,500, being the cost of caterpillar parts, property of Rene Theodorous Johannes Brouwers of Brouwers USA Trucks and Parts.”

Another count involved the conversion of €36,020, the cost and shipping of a DAF Truck, Box trailer, and two tippers, also belonging to Brouwers USA Trucks and Parts b.v.

Idowu had pleaded not guilty when first arraigned on November 27, 2024, leading to a full trial. The prosecution, led by E.S. Okongwu, presented three witnesses and eleven exhibits, all admitted by the court.

The defence, led by Kehinde Olawumi, called one witness.

Justice Ijelu ruled that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.

He sentenced Idowu to five years imprisonment on counts one to four, to run concurrently, and five years on counts five and six, with an alternative fine of N1 million per count payable within six months.

The court also ordered restitution of $62,500 and €36,020 to the complainant within six months. Idowu was remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre to serve his sentence.
