A former Peoples Democratic Party House of Representatives candidate in Lagos State, Naheem Balogun, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Balogun made the declaration at a ceremony held at the De-Echo Event Centre in Egbeda, which attracted ADC leaders and supporters from Alimosho Local Government Area.
Addressing party members, Balogun said Lagos State and Nigeria have experienced years of hardship, stressing the need for a new direction in leadership that prioritizes the welfare of the people.
He urged Nigerians to actively participate in the democratic process by obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards, describing them as a powerful tool for change ahead of the 2027 elections.
Balogun also said the ADC was open to strategic alliances, noting that the party welcomes collaboration with like-minded individuals committed to good governance and accountability.
Speaking at the event, the ADC Chairman in Alimosho, Wesley Odeyemi, expressed confidence in the party’s chances in 2027, pledging total support for Balogun’s ambition.
Other party leaders at the event called for unity and resilience, saying the ADC remains focused on unseating the ruling party in Lagos State.
The declaration comes amid ongoing efforts by opposition parties under the ADC platform to challenge the APC in the 2027 general elections.
