As Abuja residents, especially Christian faithful join others across the globe to observe this year’s Christmas, Minister of the FCT, Barrister Nyesom Wike has urged them to foster communal harmony, to ensure sustainable development, growth of the society.
Wike made this assertion in his 2025 Christmas message on behalf of the FCT Administration, where he
extended warmest wishes to all esteemed residents, specifically the Christian community as they gather to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.
He reminded the people that Christmas is far more than a date on the calendar; that it is a global celebration, defined by joy, giving, sharing.
In a world often marked by division, he described the season as a time for “good neighbourliness,” where the simple act of looking out for one another becomes a transformative force.
He also urged the Christian community to view this period through the lens of sober reflection. He encouraged them to be the primary carriers of good tidings and goodwill, spreading light throughout the Territory.
The Minister added that by doing so, they would help foster the peace, harmony, and prosperity that are essential for the nation’s capital to flourish. It was an invitation to move beyond mere festivities and toward a deeper commitment to the collective well-being of all who call Abuja home.
The Minister also enjoined residents to use the occasion to reflect on the virtues of love, unity, peace.

He suggested that if these values were truly embraced, they would serve as the bedrock for a stronger, more cohesive society, saying that the spirit of Christmas provides the perfect spiritual foundation for building a city where every citizen feels valued and included.
The Minister recognized the season as a unique opportunity for collective intercession. He called upon the residents to pray for the nation’s leaders and for Nigeria as a whole, seeking divine guidance for peace and progress in the years ahead.
As he looked back on the journey of 2025, Wike expressed his profound appreciation to the people of the FCT for their unwavering cooperation and support, which had been instrumental in the administration’s successes over the past twelve months.
Reflecting on the year’s achievements, the Minister highlighted what he termed “monumental developments” across every sector of the FCT.
According to him, from the renovation of schools, equipping of hospitals to the construction of roads and bridges in every Area Council, the physical and social landscape of the territory had been visibly transformed.
He also noted significant strides in supporting the judiciary and enhancing security, attributing these remarkable achievements to the synergy between the government and its people.
Furthermore, acknowledgment was also given to the high-level support that made these changes possible. Barrister Wike expressed deep gratitude to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,, for his massive support toward the development of the FCT.
He extended his thanks to various partners, stakeholders, and the dedicated management and staff of the FCT Administration, recognizing that the progress of 2025 was a collaborative effort involving all friends and residents of the Territory.
Looking towards the future, the Minister reassured the public that the FCT Administration remains steadfast in its mission.
He therefore pledged that the government would continue to prioritize infrastructure and services designed to have the greatest positive impact on the lives of everyday residents.
The commitment to progress, he signaled, would not end with the holiday season but would remain a constant objective of his leadership into the new year and beyond.
In closing, the Minister addressed the vital issue of safety, urging residents to be mindful of their security responsibilities during the festivities.
He encouraged the reporting of any suspicious activities to security agencies, assuring the public that necessary arrangements have been made to ensure a safe and joyful atmosphere. And with a final wish for a Merry Christmas, Wike left the residents with a message of security and celebration, reaffirming that the FCT is a place where every citizen can commemorate the season in peace.
