The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has reaffirmed its firm commitment to transparency, accountability, and due process in its 2025 Asset Disposal Exercise.

This assurance was given by the Chairman of the Commission, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, during his address to auctioneers at the bid opening ceremony held on Thursday at the ICPC Headquarters in Abuja.

Represented by the Director of the Systems Study and Review Department, Mr. Olusegun Adigun, Dr. Aliyu stressed that transparency, integrity, and merit would serve as the guiding principles throughout the process. He added that the credibility of the Commission rests on its consistent adherence to these values.

He further emphasised that the Commission remains committed to ensuring that all recovered assets are properly utilised for the benefit of the nation.

“As an institution, the ICPC remains resolute in ensuring that every kobo recovered on behalf of the Nigerian people is properly managed, transparently utilized, and ultimately channeled toward national development,” he stated.

Dr. Aliyu assured that all submissions from auctioneers would be assessed strictly on merit, following clearly defined criteria and without favoritism.

In her remarks, the Director of the Proceeds of Crimes Department (POCD), Mrs. Grace Aga-Ibe, reiterated the Chairman’s position, highlighting the Commission’s dedication to ensuring fairness and integrity at every stage.

The Executive Director of the Center for Fiscal Transparency and Public Integrity (CeFTPI), Mr. Umar Yakubu, also commended the ICPC for maintaining a credible and transparent process in line with the United Nations Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC).

Other auctioneers present applauded the Commission’s professionalism and openness. They were informed that only those who meet the required standards would proceed to the next phase of the exercise.

Representatives from the Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP) and the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) were also in attendance.

It will be recalled that the ICPC, in October, published its recovery outcomes from the 2024 Asset Disposal Exercise.
