At least 17 people, including students, teachers and health workers, were killed after a drone strike carried out by the Rapid Support Forces targeted a secondary school, a health centre in White Nile State in Sudan.
Local medical officials said the attack occurred on Wednesday in the village of Shukeiri, leaving at least 10 others injured. The wounded were taken to Al-Duwaim Hospital, the nearest major medical facility in the area.
The Sudanese Doctors Network condemned the strike, describing it as a continuation of attacks on civilian infrastructure in the region. The group said several facilities had been targeted in recent days, including a student dormitory, power station and residential neighbourhoods.
The conflict in Sudan has intensified since fighting erupted between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Forces. After being pushed out of the capital Khartoum in 2025, RSF fighters shifted operations to other regions including Kordofan and parts of Darfur.
The war has drawn global concern following reports of mass killings, abductions and widespread destruction. The International Criminal Court has opened investigations into alleged war crimes committed during the conflict.

According to the United Nations and the World Food Programme, the prolonged conflict has created one of the world’s worst humanitarian crises, with millions displaced, more than 21 million people facing severe food shortages across Sudan.
